The History of World of Warcraft So FarBlizzard Announces Acquisition of Proletariat and plans to hire "Hundreds" More in the next 2 Years to Support WoW
Blizzard entertainment has bought Boston-based game company Proletariat that will work in World of Warcraft going forward to meet the "voracious desire" of players for new games. This acquisition comes while Blizzard is being acquired by Microsoft via the Xbox maker's deal of $75 billion to acquire Activision Blizzard.
Activision Blizzard confirmed on Friday that the deal between Blizzard and Proletariat is now closed. In addition, it also provided some additional information. The CEO Bobby Kotick said the company intends to recruit "hundreds" additional developers in the coming 2 years in order to "serve the requirements" for the WoW player base.
"The exceptional team at Proletariat will be an essential part of our talent acquisition initiatives," Kotick said.
Blizzard the president Mike Ybarra offered his own statement, in which he said that the purchase of Proletariat will enable them to "meet and surpass" expectations of players.
"A vital aspect to taking care for players' health is caring for our teams - making sure we have the tools to provide experiences our communities will appreciate while giving our teams the opportunity to think about even more imaginative possibilities within their projects," Ybarra said. "Proletariat is the ideal fit to support Blizzard's goal of providing high-quality content to players more frequently."
