I haven't played many MMORPGs sincethen, which has resulted in my everlasting shame and sadness. My real-life worries are numerous and I simply cannot afford to let them suck me in. As with all games that I've played, RuneScape is by far the most tedious, with infinite levels to complete and things to acquire. Many have even died at the end or after of long-running sessions of the game's younger, but less popular sibling World of Warcraft that is what makes it an eerie game.
These days, you can most of the time, I'm in Quake and Half-Life or playing Team Fortress 2 - games that come in force create a lasting impression and then disappear. It's nice to play games I can enjoy and then get rid of quickly, as opposed to having to worry about how many pieces of wood are in my possession or where I'm going to be fishing for tomorrow's session.
However, I miss a lot of the grind and long-term commitment (and discomfort) associated with RuneScape. It's now in its third version in the form of 'RuneScape 3' (from 2013) with more content and a visual overhaul, there's a glimmer of hope I'll be able to return to the game to see how it's going, much as I would an old acquaintance.
Publisher Jagex revealed earlier in the year that RuneScape would be available for early access on mobile sometime in the summer. From today, everyone can play this long-running MMORPG across iOS or Android.
RuneScape is completely free to play, but users can avail more tasks, skills, and extras. You can check out the membership for free by registering for a an initial seven-day trial. The mobile version supports cross-play as well as cross-progression with PC which means you can move between platforms and pick up the same way you have left off.
It's important to note that this doesn't Old School RuneScape, a version based upon a build of 2007. It's available for download both iOS and Android since the year 2018. This is the fully-fledged RuneScape that Jagex has been constantly in the last 20 years.
There's no doubt that there's a demand for RuneScape across iOS as well as Android. The game has more than 1.8 million players have pre-registered for these versions, which come with a an interface for mobile users that is mobile-friendly, with improved menus, icons and menus text and textures. Combat mechanics are also adjusted to work on iOS and Android.
