A lot of these players were similar to Mobley. They played RuneScape in their teens and looked back fondly on the angular graphics and funky soundtrack. Although these 20 and 30 year olds had plenty of time when they were younger however, they were now juggling responsibilities other than homework.
"People work, and might have families," said Stefan Kempe another popular producer of content for RuneScape who has close to 200k followers and goes under the brand name SoupRS, in an interview. "It's a limiting factor to how long they can play daily."
The game can be tedious. To increase a character's agility from one to 99, the highest level, would require more than a weeks of constant play in accordance with a thorough manual that was released by the creator. After they received more than just their allowances for teenagers, players such as Mobley who works in an information center, decided to circumvent the grind of increasing their character's level as well as the price of the rare items, and the usually boring early portions of the game.
Others, like Corne, a 21-year-old Software developer from Arnhem, Netherlands, who has refused to reveal his last name, bet gold, and by the extension, real-world currency on duel with other players. "I love money. If it's in real life or in RuneScape it's nice to have" He said on the course of a telephone call.
