that will attempt to recreate "the essential elements of the RuneScape franchise in a manner so that they can be enjoyed without a lot of effort," says the publisher. It's a fairly well-designed idle game with plenty of different things to make and develop, as well as an emphasis on zero prestige mechanics requiring a game restart.
Jagex apparently became aware of the project around the beginning of 2020. It is believed that a significant portion of their staff members loved it even before its first Steam launch in October of the same year. As you'd expect that the game's creator is content to work with the designers for one of their favourite games. "Being able to work alongside Jagex to directly work on this project has been a dream realized," said Brendan Malcolm who is the sole developer behind Melvor Idle Studio Games by Malcs.
Malcolm posted a lengthy question and answer to the game's Reddit community, stressing that he will maintain total creative control going forward, while also stating that the game's single-purchase model of monetization will not change. Jagex stated that they had "no intention" to alter anything regarding Melvor Idle. The publishing agreement will result in Jagex taking on the localisation, marketing, technical support, and QA Melvor Idle.
