Editor's note: in the fourth quarter of a game between the Raiders against the Broncos during the week of Dec. 2, 1990 Jackson ran 62 yards for a running touchdown. He broke five tackles before getting to the goal line. He ended the afternoon with 13 carries that totaled the 117-yard run and two touchdowns.
In that game [Denver] in which I slid through those linemen I jumped over an offensive linebacker, and then over somebody else. If I'm not wrong I slammed into their All-Pro linebacker [Karl] Mecklenburg, and outran defense backs to his goal line. That's one play that sticks out for me because I must do everything from making someone miss, to jump into the air, then get low, and run for 60 yards for scoring.
What did you think of when you first saw yourself in the Madden cover?
I just sat down and said, "Man, you're still there. I did something right. And that's what I preach to guys who are like Derrick Henry and Saquon Barkley: Do it right. If you're doing it right in the beginning, you will be remembered forever.
The Madden curse won't be affecting your current situation, right?
What is the Madden curse? [Laughs.] It can't affect me.
It was not your idea to play with you in Tecmo Bowl. Will you play with the rest of yourself Madden?
