After all, that's how most skills are trained: once you reach higher levels, you participate in actions that provide more XP to your own time. The exceptions to this are abilities where lower-level activities are often quicker with respect to XP per time, such as those who"power level" utilizing low level things like willow trees or iron ore.
Jagex determined that they did not want players to play these exact same large XP levels over and over again. The prestige system is particularly designed to encourage players to not repeat floors, by means of a reward for higher level players who redo earlier flooring, while imposing a severe experience reward penalty when you do the same dungeon floor over and over.
A More Descriptive Title for Prestige. I think one of the reasons people find prestige so perplexing is that the name, while colorful, doesn't describe very well what the number means. A more sensible, if more sterile, title for this feature would be"sequential unrepeated floors". Because that's what prestige really is: it signifies the number of different dungeon flooring you have completed without repeating any of them. XP in Dungeoneering is rewarded upon conclusion of a dungeon floor, and can be calculated by starting with a base XP value and then applying modifiers. The base XP is influenced by various factors, including the number of monsters your team murdered and the number of rooms were researched. Nevertheless, the main determinant of foundation XP is two numbers: the floor amount and your prestige number.
