They both have their strong and weak points, and it ultimately just boils down to what Sort of match you really want to play I'd vouch for one to try OSRS, if you do not mind the grind, it's over 2x the playerbase and is not infested with MTX, unlike RS3
Do not get me wrong, there's far more to being a fantastic RS player than with a large cashpile, and a great deal of what actually counts can't be purchased with gp, but having a sizable cashpile since you spent like $100 on MTX will definitely give you an advantage over players who do not purchase MTX, regardless of which version of this game we're referring to.
If you want to grind endlessly osrs if you are looking for a more modern casual encounter rs3 VFor an MMO that I can just kind of play to enjoy, I have always favored RS3. It cut back to the mill and pushed more of the high level stuff/combining items for higher efficiency and less work. That is part of the reason why some people hate itThey really take pleasure in the grind. For grindy stuff, I've always favored Monster Hunter, where it has less amount of grind and much more problem of mill.
There's no definitive answer to this - that the very best way will be probably to play both for like a month each and see for yourself, and then pick 1 variant to continue if curious.
