QB1 moves at such a quick pace

QB1's narrative picks up as you choose which college to attend and perform for. On the other hand, the college football elements within Madden 20 are not anything important. You select a college from 10 choices, including heavyweights such as Florida, Oklahoma, Texas, and Clemson. It is a treat to see fully certified college football teams, complete with true-to-life chords, logos, stadiums, and marching band tunes, however also the gameplay experience in fact is limited to two games in the College Football Playoffs--and you can't play with the college teams at quickplay in the future.
After making it to the NFL, the sport then disappointingly becomes the standard Franchise style, except your character has more backstory that acts as fuel to induce you to be successful on the area.
In part, that is because QB1's cinematic cutscenes and Telltale-style choices end once you get to the NFL. At that point, the narrative beats play out through text messages you receive from fans and other players from all over the league. This shipping method makes conversations embarrassing and ultimately forgettable. There's 1 narrative in particular involving a sick child rooting for you that drops flat; it tries too hard to tug on your heartstrings, moody piano bits and all, without making any payoff. Without giving too much away, yet another major storyline in QB1 entails your college teammate and friend, and it ends suddenly, with the strong suggestion that the story will continue in Madden NFL 21. That is too bad, because this character, in the limited screen time that he gets, is far more intriguing than the cookie-cutter, run-of-the-mill one you create.
In general, QB1 moves at such a quick pace that it does not allow for thoughtful character development. Not only that, but the story that QB1 does tell is hokey and clumsily unraveled. The narrative overall feels barebones and incomplete, with the entirety of this QB1 mode feeling like a half-baked thought from the end.Despite the lackluster story and how it is delivered, QB1 succeeds in linking you to your on-field functionality and inspiring one to improve or perform differently each week once you've made it to the NFL. The text message system, although not the best avenue for complete conversation, is much better used in delivering week-to-week objectives and challenges. It's possible to complete these to make XP, which you can then invest into your personality in an RPG-lite-like system in which you select which elements of your game that you would like to develop.
