What I love about this build is how it comes together over time. As you level, you'll start to catch nodes on the passive power tree which increase your fire damage. Each one provides such a raw increase to your damage that it's intoxicating when you unlock you. By level 50, you'll feel like Hephaestus, God of Fire, and the entire world is yours to burn.
There are some drawbacks: because Scorcing Ray is a channelled assault, positioning is critical and a few boss fights will require constantly moving around to avoid harm. That could become very annoying sometimes.
Engineering Eternity's construct manual is the one to see, especially if you're brand new, because he breaks down how to level the character (something lots of build guides jump)
Youtuber LiftingNerdBro's take on the Frostbolt Totem Hierophant is a great build if you are brand new to Path of Exile. As it depends largely on spells which scale with your level, you do not need to fret about min-maxing your gear--in fact you can play quite deep into endPOE match without any of the suggest unique items.
Totem builds are not for everyone, as they are a very passive offensive style that relies on putting totems that cast spells for you while you focus on moving about and dodging any deadly attacks. That said, if you adore the notion of being the last boss in a bullet hell arcade shooter, then this construct rocks because your totems pay the field in strands of frost that tear through enemies readily.
