When you're getting a game for someone, check the ESRB rating. This is especially important if this game is for a kid. The ESRB rating acts as an age guideline and helps you determine if a certain game is appropriate. The ratings tell you which games are appropriate.
Always hide before reloading. Many times people are killed off in a game because they're just standing there waiting for a gun to reload. Make sure to be a better soldier than that. Only reload your weapon after you've taken cover.
If you are unsure if you can play a game on your computer, look to see if the game is supported by your version of Windows. This page, after a short download, automatically determines whether or not you meet the necessary requirements to play the game. After you have obtained the game data, you can always delete the download.
When you save a game, don't save over the old file every time. Save your game into a new slot every so often. You might find that you need to backtrack a bit in your game and do something differently. Saving your game in the same slot every time doesn't give you the flexibility that changing the slot does.
