"According to the programmer, per-frame rendering times change between eight to 16ms. In more complicated scenarios it would be tight, but that is fast enough to strike 60 frames per second for nearly all the game's duration. However, the reality is that running the last-gen A11 Bionic flat-out would encircle the apparatus, resulting in lower CPU and GPU clocks, seriously impacted performance and highly compromised battery lifetime. Epic's alternative is simple then - lock 30fps and in the process give the apparatus the thermal headroom to remain cool enough to operate at peak frequencies."
What this means is, if you play Fortnite Mobile on iPhone XS, XS Max, or even XR, you'll have the greatest possible frame rate Fortnite has to offer on mobile devices. Although this performance upgrade didn't make it to the Fortnite 6.31 update patch notes, Epic Games employees took to Twitter to confirm the information.
"Not certain why it did not make it into the patch notes, but if you play with Fortnite on an iPhone XS/XS Max/XR, now you can play at 60fps," tweeted Epic's Nick Chester. "That's an impressive technological achievement by the team and it seems great! Switch it in the choices. "Obviously some wondered why current devices like the iPhone X hasn't obtained the 60fps option. Chester did not quite rule it out in the time.
"Performance is constrained by hardware, along with the devices recorded and more powerful compared to X," he tweeted. "Having said that, the team is always looking at ways to secure better performance on all devices each the time! "While it is unlikely that the iPhone X will observe 60fps support in light of the Digital Foundry report, it will be interesting to see when and if Android devices get the similar feature, allowing for silky smooth gameplay.Where to Dance Near Holiday Trees for Your 14 Days of'Fortnite' Challenge
