The menu system is bare bones, with just a calendar and win projection chart that fluctuates throughout the season. It is refreshing to strip MLB The Show 19 down to its core essentials in March to October. You don't need to worry about handling your team here. You simply get to play thrilling scenarios that last anywhere from five to twenty five minutes. An entire season may be finished in less than ten hours, and the rewards for winning the World Series feed in the Diamond Dynasty card collecting mode, with better rewards being handed out since the difficulty goes up. When you are done with a year for continuity, you have the option to restart to October year.
The new Moments mode takes you through recent and ancient baseball history to iconic moments though it will not thrive on the same amount as March to October. Additionally objective-based, you've got the chance to experience key points at the 2016 Cubs World Series season, the professions of Babe Ruth and Willie Mays, Bryce Harper's rookie season (he's the cover athlete, after all), and more.Moments is a neat addition but it does not quite nail the presentation. For example, once I went through a Cal Ripken Jr. moment, all of the athletes were modern players who didn't play with the legendary hitter. When playing as Willie Mays or Babe Ruth, a crisp white and black filter is utilized.
Jerseys are accurate with the period of time, but players aside from the legend are simply labeled by their own position for example"Shortstop." Commentary for these moments that are genuinely memorable is off, also. I capped off a World Series victory, however, the announcers simply acknowledged that my team had won, as if it was a normal game.Moments additionally funnel into Diamond Dynasty, using some only unlocking by playing the card collecting mode and rewards largely going towards the mode itself. Moments are expected to arrive post-launch, therefore there's potential here for strength. They're still fun and frequently offer you challenging objectives, like hitting a few home runs across a small stretch of games, but it feels like Moments needed a bit more time at the cooker.
