That required some vision and some risk tolerance. But consider what it says to potential students.
It's just like a parent pushing the Beatles on a kid back in 1963. Unexpectedly Ashland is your trendy college pushing the kids' favorite game on these. It is a huge PR narrative for the college (evidence of which you can plainly see with this article).
Marketing thoughts like this - and let us face it, at least portion of this decision was a promotion decision - where so many interested parties benefit is rare.
Paradoxically, unlike Fortnite where only 1 winner succeeds every game, with this scholarship idea everyone wins.
