Before I could begin my own saga, howeverI had to make money and purchase some basic equipment. My shopping list comprised potions to boost my abilities, food to recover my health, accessories to teleport to important areas, and magical stones called runes which are utilized to fuel spells, most notably handy teleport spells. I opted to make money by training Hunter, one of Runescape's new abilities.
The fundamentals of Hunter are easy: you set traps to capture little NPC critters and harvest their carcasses for resources. It is among the most life sim-like abilities, and developing it was enjoyable for all the small subgoals involved.
From begin to finish, I spent around 20 hours hunting, and by the end I had a clean cash pile to finance my questing and training. It was a long grind that took me a few days, however I enjoyed Hunter because I used different procedures and seen many locations.
I started off snaring birds in the southwest, then proceeded onto butterflies and hedgehog-like creatures known as kebbits in northern plains, until I could eventually search small volatile raccoons called chinchompas, that are highly prized on Runescape's auction house, the Grand Exchange.
As my Hunter degree improved, I had to earn an increasing number of experience to get to another level, so I looked forward to unlocking new, faster ways to train, such as going from gray to red chinchompas.Mastering chinchompas was particularly intriguing because I chose to hunt using a form of animation called three-ticking.
